Dear sisters and brothers,
Please join us in preparing for Communion on February 2. Perhaps you could have a glass of crushed/trampled fruit of the vine and a piece of unleavened bread on hand, but far more important is that your heart be prepared (I Corinthians 11:17-34). You will find more information in Article 12 of the Confession of Faith.
We strive to find truth. The most important source of truth is God’s word. Some of my friends sincerely avoid knowledge of current events, which is a stance of some merit, but some also seek the truth about current events. One strategy, far more objective than limiting oneself to any silo or echo chamber, is to read a wide variety of sources. Personally, I almost daily review a wide variety of sources including mainstream network news, national sources with a known bias, foreign news, and news with a religious perspective. If you are not sure where your own favorite news source stands, you might check out This somewhat dated Media Bias Chart from the League of Women Voters. I say all of this because I recently ran across a somewhat conservative daily news source, The Christian Post, which at least presents opposing viewpoints. I would be interested in hearing about different ideas on how to interpret current events.
Remember Meat Canning starts on Monday, February 3, at Valley View Mennonite Church.
Incidentally, we are discontinuing the Monday PM session of S&L as we week God’s leading on weekday opportunities.
Peace and Love (P&L),
Peter and Laurie (P&L)
